Exhibition of a "living specimen of a hermaphrodite," followed by a discussion. Dr. Barnes also referenced another case of hermaphroditism that he had reported in the third edition of his book, A manual of midwifery for midwives (v.: Barnes, page 165 »»). The photographs can be reliably attributed to Dr. Ernest Muirhead Little (1854-1935) who was a surgeon at the National Orthopedic Hospital at the time. Dr. Little received his medical training at St. George's Hospital where Fancourt Barnes's father was an obstetric surgeon on the staff.
